How It Works:

If you just want instructions click here. If you want to read about how the site actually works, read on.

[Technical version]

This site is a simple combination of wildcard DNS, and a couple of PHP server variables. The name used in the story is dynamic (duh) and is pulled from $http_host.

[Gimp version]

Let's start with some simple examples. Take fast food for instance...

This site is just like Jack In The Box because "We won't make it till you order it®". Only Jack makes burgers to make you fat, and we make a non-fat bankruptcy story to amuse you. But we both only make it when you order it. Like Jack, we don't store our stories, we make them fresh. They are created instantly once you "order" them (by clicking a link to this site, or typing in a URL like http://jack.in.the.box.isbankrupt.com). And once we deliver them to you, they're gone... our servers are busy making new stories that people are ordering all the time. Just like Jacks burger-jockies. So if you don't want it, then don't order it, and we won't make it.

Seeing is believing. Now, read the instructions below and try it for yourself. And think of Jack.

[Instructions]

Using this site is easy. It works by reading what you type in to the URL. Whatever you type before IsBankrupt.com will be the name used in the story. Use periods to seperate names.

Like Jack.in.the.box.IsBankrupt.com instead of jackinthebox.isbankkrupt.com

For example:

typing Microsoft.IsBankrupt.com into your browser will create a story saying that Microsoft is bankrupt. If you wanted to see a story about Intel being bankrupt, you could simply type Intel.IsBankrupt.com. These are just some examples, it will work with absolutely anything.

Here are some usage ideas:

  • Freak out your boss or coworkers by sending them a link like YourCompanyNameHere.IsBankrupt.com.
  • Make your buddy jump out a window by sending him a link where is favorite stock is bankrupt.

*Tip: you can use periods to separate names in the story. For example Verizon.Wireless.IsBankrupt.com will print "Verizon Wireless" instead of "VerizonWireless".
